Tim Halloran grew up in Portland and became aware of the McKenzie River as his dad took him fishing when he was a boy. He graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a degree in Biology. For the next twelve years, he was a research technician and in sales in the biotechnology industry. With the support of his wife, Carol, he decided to change careers becoming a general science, biology, mathematics, and Algebra teacher in middle school and high school. He served students and families in several school districts as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and district office administrator. He also served in charter and comprehensive middle and high schools in urban, suburban, and rural areas as well as in small and large schools with high levels of diversity.
Tim relocated to the McKenzie River after retiring from a career in education. Currently, in his “retirement,” he consults with schools in need of improvement as well as coach school site administrators in leadership skills. He is in the process of writing his first book: Maverick Schools, Rise Above the Status Quo in Pursuit of Student and School Excellence. He enjoys giving back to the community and can think of nothing more rewarding than serving the McKenzie School District. Carol and Tim have two children. His son is in the diesel tech program at Linn-Benton Community College, and his daughter is on a doctorate track in the animal science department at Texas A&M University.
