During their June meeting, the McKenzie School District Board of Directors formally adopted the calendar for the 2025–26 school year, and there are a few key changes families should know about.
This year’s calendar includes a shift from 149 to 144 instructional days. By removing Thursday early release days, the district was able to make this change without significantly affecting classroom learning time.
Professional development for staff will now happen on select Fridays. Five of those days are aligned with neighboring districts to allow for shared training opportunities supported by Lane ESD.
Another important update: students will no longer attend school on Fridays. Past practice was to have students attend on Fridays when there was a Monday holiday, this caused confusion for many students and families. This change aims to provide a more consistent and predictable schedule for families.
Thanksgiving break has been extended to a full week, and the last day of school will be in the first week of June, about a week earlier than in previous years.
The full calendar is now available on the district website under the 2025–26 District Calendar button.
