Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,
I am writing to share an important update regarding our district calendar.
During a recent review of instructional days, we discovered that a spreadsheet formula error caused our previously published calendar to fall short of the adopted 144 student contact days.
Once the issue was identified, we immediately worked to correct it so our calendar complies with Board-adopted expectations and state instructional time requirements.
To align the calendar, the following updates have been made:
January 5
has been changed from a staff day to a student contact day.
The scheduled staff development days on
February 20, March 13, and May 29
have been removed.
June 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, and 11
have been added as student contact days.
June 11
is now the last day of school for students.
June 12
is now designated as the final teacher grading day of the year.
Graduation will still be held on May 30
The updated full calendar is attached for your reference.
We sincerely apologize to our students, staff, and families for this error. We recognize that mid-year calendar changes can create challenges with schedules, childcare, appointments, and school activities. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we make these necessary corrections.
Looking ahead, we will be forming a district calendar committee for the upcoming school year. This group will include representatives from all staff groups, a student, and both an elementary and a middle or high school parent. This approach will help ensure accuracy, improve transparency, and better reflect the needs of our school community.
Please note that none of the collaborative professional development days with neighboring districts were affected by these changes.
