You have developed into something so special. You are smart, responsible, kind, beautiful, thoughtful, talented and SO CREATIVE! I love how you giggle and embrace your dorkiness. You are there for your friends to be a good listener, even when your own heart is hurting. You fight just as hard as you love, any of your close friends can vouch for that. We are so proud of you for all of your accomplishments, hard work and dedication. We know that this is just the beginning and that there is nothing but great things to come your way. I have no doubt that no matter what path in life you choose, that no matter where you may go, you are destined for greatness. You are so incredibly loved, and you make this world a better place."

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT Cedric DeKlerk  Favorite K-12 memory at McKenzie: My favorite memory from Mckenzie was being a part of the band. Accomplishments (academic, athletic, or extracurricular): -John Philip Sousa Award -Principal Clarinet Player of Eugene Youth Symphony -Solo Clarinet Player Music in May -Straight A’s my senior year. -Pacific Luthern Honor Band Plans for the Future: -Attend the University of Oregon. -Professional clarinet player -International soloist Message from Family: "From the day Cedric was born I knew he was a very special guy. Speaking the Dutch language with him for the first two years of his life was so much fun. To this day, Cedric still has the accent, tongue, and technique, necessary to pronounce those guttural Dutch G’s. As a musician, and as a father, I saw Cedric as a fun kid playing with a keyboard and other music toys growing into a young man with a passion for classical music, absorbing everything from the intricate scales, the tempo, and rhythm changes, to get to know the background of those composers, who’s talent and inspiration are capable to produce some of the most beautiful sonata’s or etudes available. Cedric spends so much time in his room behind his computer on his clarinet until he gets it right. Hour after hour of practice will it take until he feels he is worthy of playing the piece for us and others. With the help of his music teacher(s), Cedric is on his way to go study under one of the world's leading clarinetists at the University of Oregon this fall. I have no doubt Cedric will climb to the highest level of what he would like to achieve, for his ambition reaches further and beyond what he currently is capable of. I can’t wait until the day I see him perform on the grand stage and I will be so proud of him, as I am of him now. Congratulations Cedric!"
