Summer in Oregon just got more awesome thanks to Summer EBT!
Summer EBT’s mission is to help get healthy meals to kids throughout the summer break from school. Eligible school-aged children will each get $120 for groceries this summer, and the program will renew each year.
If your household has an EBT card (Oregon Trail Card), your funds will be added to that card this summer. Otherwise, you’ll get a new card in the mail after you’ve been determined eligible.
Get more info at sebt.oregon.gov, and stay tuned for details on how to enroll. Let’s have a happy, healthy, and “full” summer!

Senior Spotlight!
Meet Jane Dellinger! While at McKenzie, Jane played basketball and golf and participated in track and field. She also served as the Associated Student Body Vice President (ASB). Her favorite memory from her time at McKenzie was in Mr. Day’s after-school fly-tying club in 8th grade. There, she learned about fly fishing, different fly patterns, and the life cycles of various fly species.
After graduation, Jane will attend Oregon State University to study natural resources and later attend pilot school.
She advises incoming students to develop close relationships with their peers and teachers and “Step out of your comfort zone, whether in sports, academically, or socially. My senior year has been full of fun things I never thought I would have done my freshman year of high school.”
Congratulations, Jane!

As we reach the end of another incredible school year, we want to thank our Eagles and their families for their hard work and dedication in the classroom!
The Senior Walk was a powerful reminder that the McKenzie River community is filled with support, enthusiasm, and encouragement for our students in every grade and our school at large!
We hope this summer brings time spent with friends and loved ones and the chance to soak up the sunshine. We will see you in the fall!
Go Eagles! 💚💛

We are excited to announce that our Class of 2024 Eagles are ready to spread their wings and fly! The McKenzie River community could not be prouder of our graduates, and we cannot wait to see all they will accomplish as they step out into the world. Congratulations graduates!

Did you know that according to Oregon State University, “Students’ motivation and interest in learning is increased because of outdoor school?” This Classroom Curiosity is dedicated to our fifth graders who embarked on an exciting journey to the Outdoor School Adventure.
Bringing the classroom to the outdoors was academically and socially rewarding for our students, and we are so proud of them for stepping out of their comfort zones and into the forest!

From Bill Gates to Phil Knight, Sacajawea to Captain William Clark, our fourth graders had an incredible time running their Wax Museum! Each student stood in as the “wax” replica of the person they chose to represent, accompanied by a “Push” button that prompted the students to act as their chosen person.
Our Eagles and their families loved the chance to recreate and experience history in such a unique way!

Meet Griffin Withalm! During his time at McKenzie, Griffin played football and basketball and participated in track and field. After graduation, he will attend Oregon State University and major in finance. His advice to incoming students is to “not date in high school.”
Congratulations, Griffin!

Did you know that baby chicks are social creatures who develop their personalities, learn essential survival skills, and determine preferences with the help of their broodmates?
The kindergartners had the chance to watch the exciting process of chick-hatching. While the chicks are officially headed for a new home, the memories made while watching them enter the world are an experience the kindergartners will never forget!

He also played football and basketball, participated in track and field, and was a member of the Robotics Club for two years.
Congratulations, Thomas!

Once again, congratulations to Corey Culp, who was named High School Technology Teacher of the Year.
TechStart was on campus yesterday and presented him with his award and a $1,000 check.

Our first, second, and third-grade students embarked on an underwater journey to see Finding Nemo Jr. at the Wildish Theater, presented by Rose Children’s Theater.
The performance was full of exciting costumes, catchy tunes, and the chance for our students to make lasting memories with one another.
We loved that they got to experience the arts and ask questions of the performers after the show.

Did you know that nearly 40 birds of prey from the Pacific Northwest live at the Cascades Raptor Center?
On a recent field trip, kindergarteners got up close and personal with the resident birds, learning about their mannerisms, what they eat, and their habitats. This included seeing a Great Horned Owl! They also had the chance to view all sorts of raptors in the park.
We love that our students had such a fantastic time and got to experience Classroom Curiosity in the real world!
